Bria Sullivan has been playing Classical flute for over 20 years. She was educated at Thayer Conservatory and through the Fitchburg Public School system but is largely a self-taught musician. A Multi-instrumentalist and active dancer, Bria considers music and dance her first love, how better to combine them by joining a dance band!

Bria first joined the Contra Banditos through a chance meeting with band founder Dan Fassett at a Groton block party back in 2016. After jamming together, Dan had a song in mind for a flute player and after a few barn  practices and a gig with a long flute solo, she was asked to join the Contra Banditos and the rest is history!

Bria discovered her love of Irish and traditional music at 16 when she attended high school with 5 very musical Irish immigrant siblings. She befriend the entire family and was immersed in Irish music from that point on. Somewhere along the way she picked up tinwhistle and learned some tunes, always carrying a whistle with her while backpacking. Always wanting to play more regularly and with others, she was delighted to finally have the chance to memorize a large repertoire of Irish and traditional tunes with the Contra Banditos.

She is currently learning to play the Irish Low D whistle, Harmonica and Bass guitar.
